Perfect to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, atmosphere is homely, warm and welcoming with the staff going above and beyond to cater for all ages in the group. Roast dinners were lovely, plenty to eat - we had the lamb and pork which was perfectly cooked. Thank you to Donna and Brandon for making it extra special bringing their cake out and being so accommodating - 08/02/2026 -

As with the previous reviewer, I’d seen quite a few posts on social media since this pub had been taken over and decided to give it a shot based on them.
I’m pleased to say I’m so happy I did! Myself and my partner visited for Sunday lunch on a bit of a gloomy, drizzly delightfully English day. Inside the pub was cozy, warm and surprisingly naturally bright.
Service was excellent throughout, from the moment we stepped through the door until we left, we were made to feel welcome and were taken care of in that incredibly tricky way of staff being incredibly attentive without being over bearing and making you feel rushed.
The food was the absolute highlight though! Some really interesting dishes on the menu nestled in among some firm favourite classics. Madras chicken wings and the Veal and bone marrow bolognaise as starters were fantastic. Simple, but great honest cooking.
We both had roast beef for the main and whilst it’s not as good as my mums, it comes a very close second! It’s not often I get a plate of food put in front of me that I can’t nitpick at, but this was perfect! Presentation, portion size, flavour all spot on!
By the time we’d stuffed our face with desserts, the pub was nearing on full with a great atmosphere and feel to it.
Congratulations to the new management, you’ve got a great place which I hope will be incredibly successful! And, as your prices are very reasonable, I look forward to being able to come back often. - 05/02/2026 -

Popped in for lunch and what can I say what a lovely pub, friendly service and amazing food packed with flavour. Defiantly recommend for anyone passing or planning a pub classic meal out. Can enjoy your drinks or food by the open fire in these cold months. - 30/01/2026 -

When here for a cheeky spot of lunch mid January and I couldn’t be happier. I had heard this place had been taking over just before Christmas and you can really tell the difference. Food was out of this world and the menu had a great choice on it from pub classic to more daring dishes.
Myself and wife loved every dish and will definitely going back.
I would say book as we were lucky to get a table and the place soon filled out.
Will definitely be a place I go back to. - 30/01/2026 -

10/10!!! We have been there before, it was nice, but since the new owners took over, the food has been exceptional. Top class menu!!! We have been back weekly and it’s become our local now for special occasions or just a Friday night out. The service is also incredible!!’ What a massive turn around - top class. Would recommend it!!!! - 29/01/2026 -

Honestly the Sunday Roasts here are something special, and you can’t miss.
We’ve had pretty much everything. The lamb is unreal but the accompaniments finish off every dish, from the mint sauce to the cheesy cauliflower, and the Yorkshire puddings are the best I have had anywhere!
The atmosphere is always warm and friendly, the staff are helpful and pleasant, all set in an old English pub.
What more can you ask for? - 29/01/2026 -

Booked a table for last Friday evening for a meal. Staff were friendly & service was good. I had the calamari starter, grilled aubergine for main & sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The food was really delicious for both of our meals. The atmosphere in the pub was great. Will definitely return to this lovely country pub to try more food on the menu. Would highly recommend this pub to others. - 29/01/2026 -

A special anniversary lunch from London turned into beautiful surprise. Delightful staff warmly welcomed us into this cosy pub. The food was so omg delicious and creative that we ordered most of the starters! Absolutely fantastic - each one! A perfect experience. Thank you so much! - 17/01/2026 -

Had a fantastic meal at The Plough in Dormansland. The roast was absolutely excellent – perfectly cooked, generous portions, and full of flavour. The fish and chips were just as impressive, with beautifully crispy batter and fresh, flaky fish. The seasonal vegetables were delicious and really well prepared, which made the whole meal feel thoughtful and fresh. On top of the great food, the staff were super friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. - 11/01/2026 -

Second visit to the Plough for something to eat and superb yet again. Menu is a "spoilt for choice" experience.
Scrumpets were a delight and then the pork cheek ragu. I wasn't able to manage a dessert as promised myself that the Scrumpets had to be repeated.
Superb lunch, great staff and ambience. Definitely going to be returning and highly recommended for anyone looking for something different compared to the usual tired pub menu.
Still a pub to be enjoyed too.
Open fire that warmed the cockles on a wintry day.
Well done all
From a very happy and full to the brim customer. - 09/01/2026 -

The new owners of The Plough, Jason & Stacey, have just completed a briliant refurbishment of this cosy, traditional Pub. It now serves a range of British freshly cooked, resonably priced food, prepared with a twist. Great table service in the tastefully designed restaurant area and still space for drinks with friends in the bar area or by the open fire - 30/11/2025 -

The food we had was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. There was a log fire burning and it was so cozy on a rainy afternoon. Good selection of food and drink and we will be back to try the Christmas menu when it starts in December. 10/10 experience. - 29/11/2025 -

1st time here. Lovely country pub. Service was great. We had the homemade pie which was delicious but having it with one bit of Carrott, scoop of mash and not much kale was disappointing. Maybe consider just a little more veg as it was also delicious. Lovely place. - 29/11/2025 -

We have been living in England for one year now and this was by far the best food we’ve had in England! We were so impressed and are really happy that it’s in walking distance to home! A massive cheers to the new owners! x - 28/11/2025 -

On a trip down memory lane having been a Plough regular in the 60s, when there was no food served bar pickled eggs and crisps, and a stilton in the bar for the favoured few at Christmas. In this renewed guise The Plough most certainly didn't disappoint! Layout is terrific, retaining the cosy feel and a great atmosphere. Such an interesting and diverse menu, our lunch was perfect, great service, and would definitely recommend. - 24/11/2025 -

My wife and I went to The Plough on Friday for lunch as we knew it had reopened under new management. We were greeted by attentive staff and had beautifully prepared food. The menu would cater for all tastes and we were spoilt for choice! The fact that ingredients are sourced locally is an added bonus. We will certainly be back!! We wish the new management every success. - 23/11/2025 -

We had a lovely Sunday lunch. The mon meaty option was very good and tasty and cooked with fresh local product and the Sunday roast (beef) was fantastic. Had another lunch solo and the burger is very tasty and quality home made local food. Great to have this pub as a local and will definitely be back. - 21/11/2025 -

From start to finish, the meal was exceptional. Huge congratulations to Stacey and Jason and the entire team for crafting such an impressive menu showcasing beautiful local produce. Every dish felt thoughtful, fresh and full of flavour.

Hello,
Just wanted to write a review for the bar/wait staff. ( VE 80TH ANNIVERSARY FLAG)
This pub is so inviting, so glad I met this lovely young lady that made my last day so enriching. I've forgotten your name, do remember that invite from Melbourne Australia. Your most welcome. - 02/06/2025 -

Quaint pub with a very bust Thai restaurant. Service was a bit slow but they were very busy. Poor selection of white wines with the spanish not available. Not overly impressed with the starters nothing particularly different the normal selection of deep fried offerings, however the corn cakes were fabulous. Really disappointed with the prawn salad needed more salad it was very heavy with a sickly sweet sauce that totally overpowered the dish it would have been nicer and fresher. Saying that the hot dishes went down very well. Would come again and choose differently - 15/04/2025 -

First visit with friends who been before last night , every thing to like about a proper pub in the country and the food was exceptional, 100% I be going back - 12/03/2025 -

Met friends for Lunch, 1st waitress quite cold & unfriendly, just did her job, but warmer service from another lady, who was very helpful & pleasant.
We chose their Thai set meal for 4 including Sea Bass, it was very plentiful and all very tasty, although we felt it was rather pricey since we last went there. There was also a 15% service charge added to the bill, which we thought was excessive. It is a unique situation here where they do English or Thai food, however we were only given Thai menus to choose from but later saw English food being served.
The Pub overall was also a bit shabby & looked like it could do with a good “Spring clean”, but we did appreciate the nice perfumes & hand creams in the Ladies! - 09/03/2025 -

Didn’t expect to find Thai food in a country pub! What a treat. Will definitely be back next time we go to Lingfield races. - 31/01/2025 -

First visit, while meeting up with a friend. Great, atmosphere and food. Quick service and very good value. Only down side is it's a 40min drive from home... otherwise could see The Plough being visited very regularly - 20/12/2024 -

When you get to spend a night in a room that you’d model your future “man cave” in, then you know you’re off to a good start. Service was great from the start, and while at first, unsure about the Thai menu in a classic British Pub, was pleasantly surprised to find some of the best food, Thai or otherwise, we’ve had in a while whilst eating out.
Couldn’t fault a thing! Can’t wait to return. - 13/12/2024 -

Lovely pub with nice ambiance . The food was great and service was first class. 2nd time there and we live an hour away so will be going again when we're not so busy with the grandkids ! Well worth a visit but be sure to book . - 03/12/2024 -

The Plough Pub is a hidden gem with a surprising twist – fantastic Thai food. The menu is packed with fresh, authentic flavors, from rich green curries to perfectly crispy spring rolls. The pub itself is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel at home. It’s a great spot for a casual meal or a drink, with a nice selection of beers and wines to pair with your food. The garden area is perfect for summer evenings, adding to the charm. If you’re after something a bit different from your usual pub grub, The Plough is well worth a visit. - 22/11/2024 -

Went saturday night and enjoyed the Thai food, in particular I can't recommend the salt and pepper duck enough, I had it as my main but let the rest of the table taste and then ordered another to share as dessert - 05/11/2024 -

We wanted to try the food there for a long time. We decided to give it a try today, as the weather was nice.
We were not disappointed. My wife had the pork crackling, tender and tasty. I had the fish, cooked to perfection, with greens and potatoes and a tasty lemon sauce.
Really pleased with the food. And the choice of 2 types of cider, a dry & a sweet one.
Perfect Sunday, we'll definitely add The Plough Inn to our list of great pubs around home to bring family when visiting us.
The service was on the slow side, but the place is cosy... And it was Sunday 😁 - 27/10/2024 -

Today we visited our local for a Sunday Lunch after many years ..! I have to say the meal was amazing as were the staff..Having visited other establishments recently this certainly was the best. Update: Unfortunately, I have been disappointed by the quality of the food the last couple times we have ordered a Thai takeaway. Perhaps the chef has changed? Whatever the reason, the Thai food seems to lack the incredible quality it used to have. Still a lovely pub, but I can't strongly recommend the Thai food anymore.
Previous review:
The Thai food is incredible, possibly the best Thai food we've ever had!
We loved everything we tried, especially the Pad Thai (#46), the Pad Kra Prao (#24), and the Lab Kai (#16). I'd recommend trying the coconut rice too!
Cannot recommend the Thai food enough! - 27/09/2024 -

We made a last minute booking after covid cancelled other plans and we're so glad we did. They were busy with a great atmosphere, but service was very good with lots of the staff coming to check on us. The food as always was really good, slight mix up meant the starter arrived with the mains, but that was fine. A lovely evening ☺️ - 24/12/2023 -

Dropped in for a pint and some food at lunchtime following a circular walk from the Plough.
We arrived and were able to go in with our dog. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, even offered a bowl of water and a couple of biscuits for our dog.
They were serving Thai food with an extensive menu of Thai food.
The food was very authentic and made with fresh ingredients and was outstanding. Amongst the best Thai food that I have had in the UK.
Will definitely be back again 👍 - 27/09/2023 -

Had food from the Thai restaurant section. It was the best I've ever had. Loved it and look forward to eating there again. The service was excellent, and we felt well looked after. There was a party event on so it was quite loud and very busy but that wasn't a problem at all. Loads of outside seating and a cute restaurant area indoors. Overall, it is a lovely country pub with a Thai restaurant attached. Very dog friendly with towels, biscuits, and water bowls available. Parking is difficult when busy and quickly spills out of the carpark and chokes the local road. - 26/07/2023 -

Came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We came on a Wednesday evening thinking it will be calm, we did book.
When arrived it was pleasantly busy, no parking spaces in car park but plenty on road.
The girls who served us very pleasant and hard working and attentive.
The pub/ restaurant has a nice vibe, this was added by other people in the pub the clientele were families and couples. Not loud louts.
We did not know what to choose from a very extensive Thai menu. This menu is large. So opted for the set meal.
We liked all the food and choice in the set menu was very nice. Some of the starters were deep fried, as meant to be.
However for some reason and not the first time my wife had upset tummy later, we think there something to do with cooking oil as it has happened before in other nice restaurants, this is NOT a reflection of the food. We just need to work out what oil is used. To avoid in future.
We will return and alter, choose food not deep fried,
Would recommend, but book. - 04/06/2023 -

An absolute treat ! How lovely it was to step inside this beautiful tavern - warm and cosy - and doing a good trade on a Friday winter’s lunchtime !
Really lovely food - very fresh and well presented - there’s even a very extensive Thai menu to run alongside traditional pub classics.
Yes we would return ! - 21/02/2023 -

Fantastic Sunday Lunch! Went to the plough today, called last minute and they managed to fit us in (table of 5 + high chair) within 45 mins of calling. Lovely cosy traditional pub. Greeted when we arrived and shown to table. Staff friendly and polite. Starters were lovely, and beef roast was absolutely delicious, best in area by far and lots of veg and potatoes. Kids meals were great, all 3 children cleared their plates. Busy but didn't have to wait long between courses at all. Deserts were also really good. Staff great with the children as well. First time coming here but we will definitely be returning. Thanks you all at The Plough! - 22/01/2023 -

Been through the menu. Varied on quality. So choose well Have eaten most of their menu over time. Prefer the lighter bites to the burgers etc. Sunday roast is bland. Vege burger dry as a bone. Lovely old school pub with fabulous Landlady and staff more than make up for the food. - 31/05/2022 -

Definitely try it, food was vibrant and packed full of flavor. Excellent meal!! Turned up with my kids 9 and 4 yo's, got handed a Thai menu 'thought to myself hear we go, we'll be leaving now I guess' waitress asked straight away about the kids if they wanted chick nuggets an chips. I said oh yes plz. Absolutely faultless service from a very young staff nothing was too much trouble, so as our drinks arrived the kids meals came very shortly after, then on to our meals which was stunning, my partner not a great fan of Thai food but she really enjoyed it. Would most definitely return - 08/04/2022 -

We arrived late in the afternoon after a drizzly winter walk locally. Despite the pub being very busy, we were made very welcome and ordered some mains at 2:45pm. A recommendation from a friendly local at the bar was the pies. He wasn't wrong. If available I recommend the steak & kidney pie. - 06/03/2022 -

An amazing place and folk This place and the staff are amazing. We came in on a rainy Friday afternoon and it was really busy due to a function booked. We were expecting to be told “ no room at this inn” but instead they pulled out all the stops to find us a table as soon as possible.
In the meantime we had a drink by the bar. I can recommend the Harvey’s Best. Was obvious they know how to look after beer.
We chose the Thai menu and it was very extensive.
When the food arrived , it was spectacularly good and so reasonable in price.
We were so full of fabulous food I could barely eat another bite. They very thoughtfully gave me a takeout box. Wonderful!
I was so full I could only manage an Irish coffee (had to be done) and it was just perfect.
Thank you lovely Plough people (only name I remember is Rosie the coffee maker)
We felt so comfortable as soon as we walked in and I’m sure you will as well - 30/10/2021 -

Tried the Plough Tuesday evening. Would highly recommend it! The pub itself is clean and welcoming with ample space between tables. The staff are very friendly and polite. On certain nights the menu is Thai food only (Tuesday is one of those nights). We were a party of four who all chose different dishes from the menu. The food was excellent and the portion size was great. Will definitely return - 14/10/2021 -

Lots of choice on the menu, I went for a burger and it was big and tasty. Desert was yummy brownie and ice cream. We were not rushed and able to enjoy our lunch.

Went here for a lunch time Went here for a lunch time meal during lock down. Both meals were very nice and filling, staff friendly. During covid we sat outside on a lovely sunny day, there are tables outside both at the front and rear. There were covered tales in the rear. We did not book but this was an ad hoc visit to the area. The toilets were outside and these were clean. It operates full table service and staff cheerful say just wave, we did not need to as very attentive as they walked past. Plus its part of government eat out to help out campaign this august, pleasantly surprised at the bill . We had traditional english food, but Thai food is served too we do not know when but will visit again for the Thai food - 10/08/2020 -

Went for a quick Sunday lunch Went for a quick Sunday lunch with a friend , I own a pub myself so I always like to sample various pubs for lunch .
The pub is gorgeous , really old English quintessential English with beams , open fire etc,
Walked in and 3 people who worked there didn’t smile or acknowledge us standing at the bar which was when they opened , the lady with dark hair could have been the landlady was great , took our drinks orders and asked us where we would like to sit .
Food was delicious , we had a roast beef , chicken and leek pie and a sponge pudding and custard .
Can’t fault it , it was absolutely delicious !!!
I would definitely recommend going here, girls could smile and say hello to any customer who walks in , and the other thing is it’s a bit cold the other side of the restaurant to the fire .. maybe that side could be lit ?
But I’d definitely return ! - 08/03/2020 -
